Since the start of the JHAP program it has been revised. Here are the most recent requirements for the program.

 

 

More information about the Joplin Home Buyers Assistance Program

Those eligible for JHAP Assistance can receive anywhere from $1,000 to $30,000. Funds can be used towards closing costs or a down payment. Combined they cannot exceed more than 20% of the total purchase price of the home and closing costs. Your lender will determine the amount of assistance you receive.

 

To Qualify for JHAP applicants must:

-Meet income requirements. No more than 120% of the average income for the City of Joplin (Refer to table to see household size income guidelines)

-Be able to secure a mortgage

-Completion of all necessary forms required for JHAP funding by the City of Joplin.

 

JHAP is given in the form of a Forgivable Loan. When granted for JHAP Assistance an affordability covenant is filed against the property. 

 

 

Homes eligible must be in the in the city limits of Joplin and within the boundaries of the Tornado Path. This is generally described as the area between Black Cat Road and Davis Boulevard and between 13th Street/ Junge Boulevard and 32nd Street. However, there is a more detailed map under JHAP Maps under JHAP at the top.

 

JHAP homes must be the primary residence of the applicant. 2nd homes do not qualify for assistance.
